Retrieved Computer Document Puts Rice In Middle Of Democratic Party, ACORN Conspiracy

A document obtained from an abandoned Oklahoma City ACORN office computer purports to put Senator Andrew Rice, the new leader of Senate Democrats, in the middle of a conspiracy between ACORN and the Oklahoma Democratic Party to target legislative Republicans and elect Democrats.
The document is a letter on ACORN letterhead with Rice's printed name at the bottom; whether the letter was a draft for Oklahoma Cityan Rice to send, and if it was sent, is not known. The letter urges the Citizenship and Immigration Service to expedite the processing of immigrant citizenship applications.
Rice said he didn't write the letter and had no association with ACORN.
ACORN is under investigation in numerous states for alleged illegal activity on behalf of Democrats. Last week, the Census Bureau announced that it would not allow the federally-funded ACORN to participate in the 2010 national population count. Also last week, prosecutors in south Florida arrested 11 ACORN employees on charges of falsifying hundreds of voter applications, including some involving illegal immigrants, during a registration drive last year. And some ACORN employees were fired after telling two undercover videographers posing as a prostitute and her pimp on how to circumvent the law and obtain federal funds. Multiple federal and state investigations of the group are underway.

During the 2008 presidential race, Republican John McCain tried, unsuccessfully, to link Democrat Barack Obama to the group. Since, the link has become clearer. See http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDZiMjkwMDczZWI5ODdjOWYxZTIzZGIyNzEyMjE0ODI= for details.
ACORN, short for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, started in 1970 in Little Rock, Arkansas to help the poor and today is a national, multimillion-dollar conglomerate. ACORN's political action committee endorsed Obama for president, and his campaign paid an ACORN subsidiary $832,000 to help get out the vote. Obama, himself a former community organizer, has long-standing ties to the group, which he represented in 1995 in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois over the "motor-voter" law.
There's more: Patrick Gaspard, considered one of the most powerful figures in the Obama White House, is a longtime ACORN operative and former union official described by ACORN itself as "ACORN's man in the White House."
ACORN's Oklahoma City office was closed and abandoned last year and Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City, obtained a computer from the office. He was able to retrieve numerous documents, including those reported on by radio station KTOK, and this undated document, on ACORN letterhead:
Dear USCIS

I am writing to request that you take all measures necessary to expedite the processing of immigrant citizen applications, in order to make the dreams of hard working people who contribute much to our communities a reality.
Currently, there is a longer than expected waiting period, for the processing of the N-400 citizenship applications.
This past year the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) raised the application fee to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. According to the USCIS the revenue from the fee increase will "enable a 20 percent reduction in average application processing times" One of the application types that the USCIS claims will see a decrease in processing times is the N-400; which it states "will improve from seven months to five months", by the end of 2008. Currently, the stated processing time for the N-400 is 6 to 7 months. Many immigrants are now experiencing a 1 year or more waiting period, as opposed to the seven months claimed by the USCIS.
As you can appreciate, this is a serious obstacle, for these hard working people, on their path to full citizenship. Many come to the United States, in hopes of making a better life for themselves and their families. These hard working people have followed all the rules and have yet to see the fruits of their labors. Instead, they are facing long waiting periods and an endless bureaucracy that is turning the American dream into a nightmare.
I believe citizenship is an important American value and I believe the USCIS should address the problem of the backlog. I further believe that the USCIS should live up to its word and take all measures within its power to make this process more efficient and speedier. We are asking that you support and make the dreams of these eligible persons, so that they may become full participating members of our community, with all the rights and privileges that come with US citizenship. We thank you for your support, on this important issue.
Thank You Andrew Rice Oklahoma State Senator

Democrats Lurch Left; Name Rice As Senate Leader

In a decided lurch to the left side of the political spectrum, the Senate Democratic caucus has chosen Andrew Rice as leader designate for the 2011-2012 legislative session.
The current Democratic Leader, Senator Charlie Laster (D-Shawnee) will continue serving as leader for the upcoming session slated to commence in February 2010, but will step down as leader after the Nov. 2010 elections. Laster has served as Democratic Floor Leader since January of 2007.
Rice, the Oklahoma Cityan who lost a U. S. Senate bid against incumbent Republican Jim Inhofe in 2008, is noted for his social activism and votes for liberal issues, including votes in favor of abortion and against tort reform.

On Second Thought, Andrew...

When Barack Obama endorsed Andrew Rice in Oklahoma's U. S. Senate race, some wondered why, given the perception that Rice was running far better than Obama in Oklahoma and an Obama endorsement likely hurt Rice rather than helped him.
Statewide, that may have been the case.
But in the state's two largest counties, Oklahoma and Tulsa, Rice actually ran behind Obama. In Oklahoma County, Obama got 116,133 votes while Rice got 112,372. In Tulsa County, Obama got 96,106 votes while Rice got 93,475. Rice outpolled Obama in most of the other 75 counties.

Rice's Left To Right Zig-Zag On Gun Control

Democrat Andrew Rice claims in a new television commercial for his U. S. Senate campaign that he's been given an "A" rating by the National Rifle Association, an evident attempt to cozy up to Oklahoma gun owners and 2nd Amendment advocates.
Problem is, Rice was not given an "A" by the NRA; he was given an "A-" (there's a huge difference in the two grades) and the NRA gave Republican incumbent Senator Jim Inhofe an "A+" and endorsed Inhofe, as did the Oklahoma Rifle Association.
In 2006, Rice drew an "F" rating from the Oklahoma Rifle Association in his State Senate campaign.

Rice Silent On Obama Endorsement

Democrat Andrew Rice, who trails Republican incumbent Jim Inhofe in the race for the U. S. Senate, has remained silent today after he was endorsed by Barack Obama.
Rice's website contained no mention of the endorsement 12 hours after it was issued in an email to Obama supporters. On the campaign trail, Rice apparently has not mentioned the endorsement in person, either.
The latest TvPoll issued Monday shows Obama trailing John McCain in the state by a 2-to-1 margin.

Birds Of A Feather: Obama Endorses Andrew Rice

Barack Obama is out with an email endorsing Democrat Andrew Rice in his uphill battle against incumbent Republican U. S. Senator Jim Inhofe.
Why Rice would embrace the endorsement of Obama is a mystery to some; Rice is running ahead of Obama, who is likely to lose Oklahoma 2-to-1 to John McCain.
Here's the text of the Obama email:

'Dr. No' Says Andrew Rice Clueless

Oklahoma Victory 2008 today released the following statement from Senator Tom Coburn in response to U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Rice’s attacks on Senator Jim Inhofe and Rice’s attempts to align himself with Senator Coburn’s leadership:

“Andrew Rice has neither the experience nor the ideas to address our nation’s financial crisis. Nor does he have any basis for associating his liberal agenda with my record of limiting the growth of government. His attempt to associate his agenda with mine in the context of a partisan attack against Jim Inhofe is personally offensive to me and an affront to Oklahoma voters,” Coburn said.

“Senator Jim Inhofe, unlike Andrew Rice, has a record of keeping taxes low and government limited. Had Washington politicians followed Jim Inhofe’s conservative philosophy we would be in much more secure position today. Andrew Rice, on the other hand, would empower Senate liberals who want to increase taxes, orchestrate a government takeover of health care and pass on crushing debt to future generations,” Coburn said.

“Finally, it’s absurd that Andrew Rice now wants to associate his views with mine when he actively worked to elect Brad Carson in 2004. In fact, Rice was part of Carson’s left-wing political base and was offended that Carson wouldn’t proudly identify himself as a liberal. Rice was a liberal then and he’s a liberal now. He should campaign on his true convictions, not try to hide his views behind baseless partisan attacks,” Coburn said.

Daily Kos To Rice: Bad News

The Daily Kos, liberal blog that a few months ago touted Democrat Andrew Rice as the liberal who could defeat incumbent Republican Senator Jim Inhofe, seems inclined today to throw in the towel.
"Bad news" is how the blog refers to its own poll data, which shows Rice lagging far behind Inhofe. Rice got just 34 percent in the poll, which put Inhofe at 56 percent. The results seem to mirror other recent polls.
In the presidential race, the Daily Kos pollsters found the McCain-Palin ticket at 59 percent, the Obama-Biden ticket at 36 percent.

Rasmussen: Inhofe Cruising To Reelection

Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe is cruising towards re-election in November.
The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the U.S. Senate race finds the incumbent leading Democratic challenger Andrew Rice 55% to 39%.

Inhofe has served in the Senate for the last fourteen years and serves on the Committee on Armed Serves and
Environment and Public Works. Rice is currently serving in the state’s senate.

Inhofe has a dominate 65% to 29% lead among unaffiliated voters in Oklahoma. While he leads 62% to 34% among men, he has just a 49% to 45% edge among women.
The incumbent is viewed favorably by 59% and unfavorably by 34%. Rice is still much less known to voters. The challenger is viewed favorably by 45%, unfavorably by 38%, and 18% have no opinion of him.

Inhofe Campaign Challenges Rice

Senator Jim Inhofe's campaign manager today offered to donate $5,000 to "any of the liberal organizations" opponent Andrew Rice is involved in if Rice can refute assertions about him in an Inhofe campaign commercial.
An Inhofe news release reads, "First the Rice campaign circulated a canned press release dated September 1, calling the Inhofe campaign’s ads that started September 9 'false.' Now, Andrew Rice is up on television with another canned response, saying the ads 'aren’t true.'"
Said Inhofe Campaign Manger Josh Kivett: “I have one simple challenge for the Rice campaign: please explain which part isn’t true. If Andrew Rice can refute the fact that he founded the Progressive Alliance Foundation which opposed Oklahoma’s traditional marriage amendment, we will donate $5,000 to any of the liberal organizations he founded, led, or worked for. Or if Senator Rice can prove he did not cast the votes highlighted in our advertisement, we will gladly make the $5,000 contribution."

Is Rice TV Endorser Registered To Vote?

Questions are being asked today about a new commercial by U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Rice in which a man who says he's a registered Republican endorses Rice.
The questions arise because the man identified in the commercial, Monty Collings, cannot be found as a registered voter in Cleveland County where he lives. A search of voter registration records shows two registered voters in the Collings household in Noble, Tracy and Steffanie. A statewide search finds no Monty Collings as a registered voter. It is possible Collings is registered under a different first name in another city but he could not be contacted for an explanation.

Monty Collings is identified in a new Rice commercial that began airing on Monday that highlights a state legislative battle over insurance coverage.

Rice backed a bill last session that would have required insurance companies to pay routine health care costs of patients who take part in clinical trials.
It was called Steffanie's Law, named for 18-year-old Steffanie Collings of Noble, a brain cancer patient who died this year.

The commercial features Steffanie Collings' father, Monty, saying that he is a Republican, and he supports Rice.

"We need him in Washington," Monty Collings says in the ad, which can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI-Q3EFvYVk&eurl=http://www.andrewforoklahoma.com/free_details.asp?id=103
