Posh Club, Host Of New York Liberals Highlight Andrew Rice's Latest Fundraising Event

A posh New York City club and a long list of liberals highlight Senate candidate Andrew Rice's latest fundraising effort.

Rice, who seeks the Democratic nomination to oppose incumbent Republican Jim Inhofe this year, doesn't list the event on his official website, but it is being mentioned in other, out-of-state places.

There's this, from http://davidwain.com/blog/2008/02/03/come-join-me-for-a-good-cause/: I’m supporting ANDREW RICE for U.S. Senate, if you’re in New York, please come join me on Thursday! In March 2006 New Yorkers came together for a fun filled evening to support Andrew Rice in his quest for an urban Oklahoma City State Senate seat in the 2006 elections. Andrew went on to win the seat with nearly 70% of the vote in November 2006!
Now we are asking you to come together again for a night of fun and politics to help accomplish an even bigger feat: elect Andrew to U.S. Senate, and send ultra-conservative Republican Jim Inhofe into retirement for good.

HOST COMMITTEE: Edward Norton, Janeane Garofalo, and Doug Liman, Amy Rice, Amy Redford, Ali Marsh and Fred Weller, Clara Markowicz and Charles Fulford, David Sampliner, David Wain and Zandy Hartig, Erin Duggan, Giovanna Torchio, Heidi Neurauter, Lara Shapiro and Thierry Bonnaire, Meggan Lennon and Craig Wedren, Rachel Zabar, Sophie Simmons and Courtney Little.

He helped push for the creation of the 9/11 Commission and has been an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq. Come meet Andrew on Thursday night, Feb. 7th, and forward this evite to your friends! Garofalo is an actress and former Air America show host. She has been open and outspoken regarding her liberal political views, appearing in the past with figures such as Ralph Nader (whom she supported in 2000, but opposed in 2004). She is an atheist and has participated in a radio interview by Freethought Radio, a show by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

The event apparently is being held by ActBlue, the online liberal Democrat fundraising effort.

The site of the event, the Bungalow 8, is described thus by New York City Magazine: “There are plenty of places to blow $350 or so on a $25 bottle of Absolut Mandrin, but if it's the highest tier of upscale pretension that you're aspiring to, look no farther than Bungalow 8. The tiny lounge, with its snobbish door policy, potted palm trees, and PVC-happy celeb stalkers, is way too South Beach to actually exist in South Beach.”
