Stan Inman Campaign: DA Forced Release Of Carolynn Caudill Work Records

Republican Stan Inman's campaign for Oklahoma County Clerk said today it took the intervention of District Attorney David Prater to obtain records Inman claims show incumbent Carolynn Caudill "has shown up for work only slightly more than 30% of the time."

The records, the Inman campaign said in a news release, were obtained through an open records request made by Friends of Stan Inman.

Two requests were made on June 25th, 2008. One of the requests was about payroll and employees, and it was released within days. However, the request for records pertaining to county officials entry and exit from the security system located in the Oklahoma County office building were not responded to until the DA's office and Sheriff's Office intervened on Monday, the release said.

The records, which only go back to January, 2008 show: There were a total of 107 working days which comes to 856 hours of operation @ 40 hours per week or 160 hours per month; Caudill "badged" in 57 of those days. There was never one time that Caudill exceeded 20 hours in the office per week; She logged a total of 58 hours in February, 44 hours in March, 41 hours in April, 43 hours in May, and 32 hours in June. That equals 218 hours of being in the office out of a total of 856 total hours of operation, the release claims.

Caudill Faces Class Action Lawsuit

It appears today a class action lawsuit may be filed against Oklahoma County Clerk Carolynn Caudill over the exposure of Social Security numbers on the clerk's website earlier this year.

It is known that several Oklahoma City attorneys are working on a possible lawsuit.

Last March, the Social Security numbers of thousands were found on Caudill's official website. The numbers were contained on numerous documents filed of record in the county and were easily found by anyone with computerized research experience.

Despite the ease with which the numbers could be found at that time, there were no reports of identity theft.

The McCarville Report Online found the Social Security numbers of numerous prominent Oklahoma County residents with ease and in no case did we find a document where the Social Security number had been redacted, or blacked out, as is required under federal law.

Caudill has since had the Social Security numbers redacted. Her primary election opponent, fellow Republican Stan Inman, former county commissioner, has criticized Caudill over the issue.

Oklahoma County Officials Draw Foes

By Bryan Dean/The Oklahoman ~ Three of four Oklahoma County incumbents already face challenges for their offices as candidate filing continues today.

County Clerk Carolynn Caudill faces a familiar opponent in the Republican primary. Former District 3 Commissioner Stan Inman, who often clashed with Caudill before he lost a re-election bid two years ago, will try to unseat Caudill.

Embattled District 2 Commissioner Brent Rinehart, who is scheduled to go to trial in September on multiple felony charges stemming from his 2004 campaign, already faces four opponents.

Democrats Jim Dickinson of Harrah and Bob Boyster of Oklahoma City have filed for the seat along with Oklahoma City Republicans J.D. Johnston and Brian Maughan.

Sheriff John Whetsel also drew an opponent this morning. Republican Jim Heitmeyer of Del City will run against Whetsel, who is seeking his fourth term.

The filing period continues until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Inman Files For Oklahoma County Clerk

Former Oklahoma County Commissioner Stan Inman today filed for the office of Oklahoma County Clerk.

"It's vital that county boards receive timely and accurate information from the Clerk's office, so that the various boards can make informed and cost effective decisions. In my four years as County Commissioner, the current Clerk repeatedly missed deadlines and provided incomplete information. Frankly, Oklahoma County deserves better," said Inman.

Inman has received the endorsements of every former Oklahoma County Republican Party Chairman and political leaders within the district such as, Lt. Gen. Dick Burpee, Rep. Ken Miller, Rep. Sally Kern, Former Edmond Mayor Bob Rudkin and former Senator Mark Snyder.

"I will bring fiscally conservative philosophies and a sense of fair play to the office of County Clerk that is obviously lacking there now," said Inman.

Inman Criticizes Caudill Over SSN 'Security Breach'

Oklahoma County Clerk candidate Stan Inman said today that "a recent breach of the public's trust by the Oklahoma County Clerk has cost taxpayers millions of dollars and could potentially leave the county open to lawsuits that could cost taxpayers even more."

State and Federal law enforcement agencies are investigating the legal ramifications of the apparent unlawful publication of more than million social security numbers, tax identification numbers and private information of Oklahoma County residents, Inman said in a news release.

"Carolynn Caudill is to blame for the biggest security breach in Oklahoma County's history. I was taught to do things right the first time, there was no rush to publish these documents. By her very own actions, hiring a firm to go back and redacting the social security numbers is an admission that she has made an egregious mistake," said Inman, a Republican like Caudill, and a former county commissioner.

"This didn't just happen overnight. They've been on the internet for almost two years. It's an ID thief's dream come true," added Inman.

Caudill's office, Inman said, is responsible for the unlawful publishing of the numbers, leaving the county open to lawsuits over potential and real identity theft.

"Publishing almost a million social security numbers on the Clerk's website is likely to lead to lawsuits against the county. The way I read the 1976 amendment to the 1974 privacy act; this is clearly an irresponsible act on the Clerk's part," continued Inman.

"The monies used to correct her mistakes could have been used to fix road and bridges in Oklahoma County. As your next County Clerk, I will not be so frivolous with your personal information and will make sure taxpayers' money is spent properly and effectively," stated Inman.

Inman Says He's Considering County Race

Former Oklahoma County Commissioner Stan Inman said today he is considering a race for another county office, possibly that of county clerk, a seat now held by Republican Carolyn Caudill. Inman's comments came during the "Tailgate Political Hour" hosted by Keith Gaddie and Kyle Loveless, with James Davenport (Inman's former assistant) and Mike McCarville sitting in, on KTLR-890 AM. Inman said he's made no decision but clearly has the "itch" to return to elective politics. He was defeated in his reelection bid for county commissioner. Inman responded to blogger reports that he's being mentioned as a candidate and he made it clear he doesn't plan to seek a legislative seat and is focused on a county office.
