House District 1 Voters To Select Nominees

Voters in southeastern Oklahoma go to the polls tomorrow to select party nominees for the House District 1 seat vacated by the death of Republican Rusty Farley in July.

Registration in the district is 6-to-1 Democrat.

The Democratic and Republican winners will face two independents in the special general election on February 14th.

The Republicans are Joe Silk, 54, of Hochatown; Kenny Sivard, 24, of Broken Bow; Kevin George, 47, of Garvin; and Keith Bain, 55, of Valliant. Bain is in jail on several felony charges.

The Democrats are Curtis McDaniel, 59, of Smithville, and Donald Ray, 66, of Idabel.

Two independents also have filed for the seat, which includes McCurtain County. James Skipper, 20, of Smithville, and Farley's daughter, Bethany Farley, 29, of Idabel, advance automatically to the general election.
