Coburn, R-Muskogee, underwent a procedure “to treat an early stage incidence of prostate cancer,” Coburn spokesman John Hart said.

“He is expected to make a full recovery and return to his full-time duties later this month.”

Coburn, a physician, is 63.

In 1975, he had a malignant melanoma. In 2003, the year before he first ran for the U.S. Senate, he had colon cancer. In 2007, he had a benign tumor removed from his pituitary gland.
