NRA Campaigns Before Iowa Straw Poll

The National Rifle Association is jumping into the fray in the days before the Ames (Iowa) straw poll, running a radio ad and a print ad in the Des Moines Register encouraging voters to "arm yourself with the facts" about the GOP hopefuls.

"Hey, you ever notice how some candidates freeze like a white tail in the headlights when you ask them about gun rights?" the radio ad says. "How can we trust them on anything if they won't trust us with our right to keep and bear arms?"

Both the radio and print ads -- which don't target a particular candidate -- tell voters to come out to Ames, and to ask the candidates about their positions on 2nd Amendment rights.
