Five Candidates File For HD1 Seat

Three Republicans and two Democrats filed today for the House District 1 seat previously held by Rusty Farley, who died July 4th. The filing continues through Wednesday.

Farley, 57, of Haworth, won the seat last year. He died after suffering a pulmonary aneurysm.

Donald Ray, 65, a retired superintendent of Haworth Public Schools, and Curtis McDaniel, 59, principal of Smithville High School, are the two Democratic contenders.

Kenny Sivard, 24, who works at a Broken Bow funeral home; Joe Silk, 53, a bed-and-breakfast inn owner from near Broken Bow; and Kevin George, 47, who owns an electronics business in Garvin, are the three Republican contenders.
