Fallin Urged To Refuse Education Money Even Though State Hasn't Applied For It

The Eagle Forum is out with an "Action Alert" urging Oklahomans to call Governor Fallin in an attempt to halt acceptance of a multimillon dollar educational grant.

But the cart may be way ahead of the horse here.

Fallin's chief of staff, Denise Northrup, said today the state hasn't even applied for the grant: "We haven't even APPLIED for this grant. And we weren't even one of 37 states who indicated they were going to apply."

She said grant applications will be available on August 15th.

Bunny Chambers
Bunny Chambers, Oklahoma Eagle Forum president, said the early childhood initiative of the Obama Administration would take educational choice away from parents.

"Parents are in danger of loosing their right to choose and guide the education of their children," Chambers writes in an email.  "The Obama Administration has launched a new initiative to get more infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers enrolled in 'early-childhood education' programs.

"CALL GOVERNOR MARY FALLIN at 405-521-2342 and ask her to refuse President Obama's child care grant, '
Race to the Top,' or as we call it, 'Race to the Cradle,'  just like she refused his Obamacare health grant."
