Corporation Commission Ponders 'Make-good payments' For Furloughed Workers

By Jerry Bohnen/NewsRadio 1000 KTOK ~ First the State Corporation Commission furloughed hundreds of workers for 8 separate days in the past fiscal year and now it's considering $400 make-good payments that could cost the State more than $225,000.

Commission Chairwoman Dana Murphy, explaining a recent vote was only to explore the possibility, also sounds like she supports it.

She says it's not meant to be a bonus nor a "feel sorry" payment but more a recognition of the sacrifices the Commission employees have made. The furloughs were announced because of a tight Commission budget. But the commission budget was not cut by the legislature as it did for many other state agencies. Instead, the commission received an addition $1 million.
