Part II: The Gadfly On His Back
I awoke from the Wednesday morning operation feeling better than expected. Despite having my chest cut open, my breast bone sawed in half and a part of my heart replaced with cow flesh, I felt refreshed.
How much of that was my natural optimism, how much of it the drug cocktail, I don't know.
Friday morning (a week ago), I'm still feeling okay. Seems to me I'll be back at the house by evening, kicked back and recuperating.
Family and friends are swarming by now, awaiting word that I'll be going home.
Part 3 is next.
