Dan Boren Says He's Done With Congress

Congressman Dan Boren, Muskogee Democrat, said today he will not seek reelection next year.

Since being elected to Congress, Boren has married; he and his wife now have two children and they are said to be the major reason Boren is quitting. He said today his family needed more of his time.

There had been speculation he might seek the U. S. Senate seat now held by Senator Tom Coburn, Muskogee Republican.

Today, there's open speculation that Boren might be in line to head the Grand River Dam Authority; a job search is said to be underway by the GRDA.

There's also word that former Congressman Brad Carson, Claremore attorney, will seek the Democratic nomination to succeed Boren.
