Treasurer Miller Issues Afternoon Statement

Treasurer Ken Miller this afternoon sent this statement:

"My commentary praises many policy changes this year, but also is a critique of the budget process. With more than 500 agencies, boards and commissions, a bloated education bureaucracy and underfunded classrooms, roads and bridges, I hope that no one is declaring victory for a perfect budget.

"There never will be a perfect budget, but we can always strive to do better.

"I would encourage all Oklahomans to read my article in its entirety at http://www.treasurer.ok.gov/ so that we can have a constructive conversation about this topic.

"In no way is my criticism pointed toward any individual, but the budget process of which I was a part for several years. I have great respect for the Governor and the legislative leadership, but am passionate about fiscal conservatism and will continue to advocate for it in a positive manner.”
