Lankford To Deliver Nationwide GOP Address

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced that Congressman James Lankford (R-OK) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, April 30.

Lankford will discuss how rising gas prices are impacting families and small businesses, and will highlight the American Energy Initiative – an ongoing effort by Republicans to create new jobs and address rising gas prices.

He will also talk about the importance of lifting the crushing burden of government debt that threatens future generations of Americans.

“It is an honor to represent not only the Fifth District of Oklahoma, but the voice of the Republican Party nationwide,” said Congressman Lankford. “During a time of high gas prices, massive budget deficits, and a struggling economy, we need more than just talk, we need solutions. That’s why Republicans are leading the effort to increase domestic energy production, put our fiscal house in order and create jobs right here at home. I’m proud to be a part of this tremendous freshman class and look forward to working with all my Republican colleagues to serve the American people.”

“Removing policies that are driving up gas prices and stopping Washington from spending money it doesn’t have are critical if we want to help small businesses create new jobs,” said Boehner. “That’s why the message James will deliver this week is so important: the onslaught of Washington spending, debt, and red tape has engulfed our economy with uncertainty and raised costs for families and job creators. The new House majority is focused on turning things around and getting our economy back to creating new jobs.”

The text and the audio of the Weekly Republican Address will be available on Friday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. EST on http://speaker.gov/. It will be embargoed until Saturday, April 30 at 6:00 a.m. EST.
