John Estus Named Steele's Press Secretary

John Estus
House Speaker Kris Steele on Friday announced the hiring of journalist John Estus as his press secretary.

“The press secretary plays a vital role in ensuring the public is well-informed about how its business is being conducted by the Legislature,” said Steele, R-Shawnee. “John did exactly that – with great distinction – as a reporter, so I am thrilled to bring his skills to our office.”

Estus was previously an award-winning reporter at The Oklahoman, where he covered state, city and county government and worked on the newspaper’s investigative team.

He also helped develop coverage initiatives for the newspaper’s website.

Since last year, Estus had been covering state government from the newspaper’s bureau at the Capitol.
