IIAO Praises Fallin, Legislative Leaders

The Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma (IIAO) commended Governor Mary Fallin and the Legislature today for their commitment to develop a market-driven, free enterprise health insurance marketplace in Oklahoma rather than accepting a $54 million federal grant that would set the stage for implementation of a government run health care system.

“Even though the process has not been easy and the debate often intense, Governor Fallin and legislative members have taken the right approach,” said Dan Ramsey, IIAO president and chief executive officer. “The temptation to take a bite of the federal apple was very tempting, especially given Oklahoma’s budget, however I applaud both the governor and the Legislature for their willpower to resist Washington’s overreaching arm, and instead turn to the talents and resources available within Oklahoma’s borders. IIAO members are looking forward to working with Governor Fallin, the Legislature, Insurance Commissioner John Doak and others in a collective effort to establish a viable insurance exchange network.”
