GOP Field Excites Few, Poll Claims

From www.newsmax.com ~ Less than half of Republican voters are satisfied with their choices in the 2012 presidential field, a new poll claims.

Only 43 percent like the current field compared with the 68 percent approval rate of the field at this point in the 2008 election cycle, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll showed.

In an open-ended question that let respondents name candidates, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney led with 16 percent followed by “no one/not any of them” at 12 percent. No other candidate received double-digit support, the Post said.

The next three finishers were Donald Trump and former governors Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin.

The Post noted that conditions were ripe for a late entry, such as Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels or New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
