Stem Cell Research Bill Passes House

Rep. George Faught
Rep. George Faught's bill that would make it a crime to destroy an embryo during stem cell research passed the House Thursday.

The bill passed 86-8 and now heads to the Senate.

The bill would make it a misdemeanor to conduct destructive research on a human embryo or to sell, receive or transfer a human embryo knowing it would be subject to destructive research.

Faught and others say the bill would protect the lives of unborn children. Opponents said it would prevent research that could find cures for numerous ills.
