Political People & Events

Jenni White: The Oklahoma City Republican activist who also has been involved in the school reform effort announced todahy she's a candidate for vice chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party.

Don Barnes: The former chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court has died at age 86.  He served 30 years as a judge after being elected in Okmulgee. Governor David Hall named him to the high court in 1972. He retired in 1985 as chief justice.

Doug Allen: The veteran state employee is headed back to the Tax Commission as general counsel. It's a position he held from 2005 to 2009. He leaves as secretary of the Commissioners of the Land Office.

Governor Fallin: She's named three to the Pardon & Parole Board: Marc Dreyer, senior pastor of Memorial Baptist Church of Tulsa; David E. Moore, Edmond, is the former vice president of operations for Avalon Correctional Services and is a former Secret Service agent; Currie Ballard of Langston returns to the board after an 8-year absence, having served from 1999 to 2003.

Clayton Johnson: The Ponca City police chief has been nominated by President Obama as the U. S. Marshall for the Northern District. He joined the Ponca City Police Department in 1986 and has been chief since 2002.
