Henry Defends Barresi's Right To Hire Staff

Former Governor Brad Henry said today Schools Superintendent Janet Barresi has the right to hire her own senior staff, thus disagreeing with the Board of Education he appointed.

Henry's remarks came on KFOR-TV's "Flash Point" show.

Asked about the contentious meeting last week in which the Democrat-dominated Board refused to approve the hiring of Barresi's top staff members, Henry declined to criticize the Board except to disagree with its action in disapproving the hires.

Henry also disclosed that he and his former chief of staff, Gerald Adams of Shawnee, have formed the Henry-Adams Companies LLC. The Secretary of State's office shows it was registered on January 4th.
