Education Board's Powers To Be Examined
Steele
By Megan Rolland/The Oklahoman ~ House Speaker Kris Steele on Friday called for an examination of the powers and authorities of the state Board of Education after a heated meeting where the governor-appointed board rejected the top administrative team of the newly elected state schools superintendent.
“The board's actions and what apparently is going on over there is very serious,” said Steele, R-Shawnee. “I believe it merits the full attention of the House of Representatives, and I think it could very likely result in significant reforms to the oversight of the Department of Education.”
