Doak Downgrades Anti-Fraud Unit; Dismissed Investigator Says Door Open For Insurance Fraud

The Oklahoman's Randy Ellis reports today that Insurance Commissioner John Doak is downgrading the department's fraud unit. He's laying off six of the unit's nine investigators.
The move has drawn criticism by some of the dismissed agents, who will lose their jobs at month's end.

“There just will not be any fraud investigations in the state,” said one of the investigators, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “If I were going to commit insurance fraud in Oklahoma, I would feel pretty confident I could get by with it.”
