Behenna Clemency Appeal Denied

The U. S. Army Clemency and Parole Board has denied clemency for 1st Lt. Michael Behenna of Edmond, his family said today.

Behenna was convicted by a military court in 2009 in  the death of an al Qaida operative in Iraq. The trial was marked by the prosecution's failure to disclose evidence favorable to Behenna. As a result, his family has sought clemency and also seeks a new trial. The Board previously reduced Behenna's sentence from 20 years to 15 years.
