Steele: Cities Could Get Power To Ban Smoking

John Estus of The Oklahoman reports today that House Speaker-elect Kris Steele will file a bill allowing cities to ban smoking in public places.

That power is now reserved to the state via a pre-emption law that says no city can enact tobacco use restrictions stricter than the state's. Oklahoma is one of two states with such a law.
