Lankford Names Randy Swanson Chief Of Staff

Newly-elected Fifth District Congressman James Lankford announced his first staff appointment today, naming Randy Swanson as Chief of Staff of his Congressional offices.

Swanson brings over two decades of public service experience to the position.

Swanson comes to the Congressional office from the Oklahoma State Senate, where he served as Director of Communications for the Senate Majority Leadership office for the past two years. He has previously served as Press Secretary and Chief of Staff for Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas, and as Administrative Aide to then-Corporation Commissioner J.C. Watts. He has also worked in the private sector as a public relations professional and government affairs specialist.

"I couldn't be more pleased that Randy Swanson has accepted my offer to join me in this new adventure," Lankford said. "He brings deep relationships in the district, and has a proven record of effective public service. He shares my passion for helping bring our nation back to fiscal sanity and social stability.

"We will be joining 65 other Freshman Members of Congress in Washington, and the learning curve will be short," Lankford continued. "I'm confident with Randy and the team we assemble, we will waste no time in conscientiously representing the values of Oklahoma's Fifth Congressional District."

"I consider it a singular honor for James Lankford to ask me to join his team in this important position at this time in our nation's history," Swanson said. "Mr. Lankford 's campaign message resonated with Oklahomans from all walks of life, and I'm excited to work in support of his goals of stronger and sound policies for the future of our families.

"The challenges facing our nation are significant, and I'm ready to get to work with Congressman-elect Lankford and the new Republican majority in the House to get our nation moving in the right direction again," Swanson concluded.

Swanson lives in Yukon with his wife Carol and two of his sons, Joel and Luke, who attend Yukon High School. Their eldest son David is a 2006 graduate of YHS and a 2010 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
