Benge Joins Tulsa Mayoral Staff
Outgoing House Speaker Chris Benge is joining the Tulsa Mayor’s Office as director of intergovernmental and enterprise development, Mayor Dewey Bartlett said Friday.
Benge is term-limited. His tenure as speaker will end with the election of Kris Steele of Shawnee as his successor in the GOP-controlled House.
Benge will be paid $100,000 annually. The Tulsa Community Foundation will pay $50,000 of that salary, and $25,000 will come from a U.S. Department of Energy grant, leaving $25,000 that has to be covered by Bartlett's office.
