Paddack Dodges SQ744 Position

Susan Paddack, the Democratic nominee for superintendent of schools in a close race with Republican nominee Janet Barresi, has again refused to take a position on the controversial State Question 744. It is supported by the Oklahoma Education Assocation, a group that has endorsed Paddack.

Asked about the question during a Tulsa forum (as reported by the Tulsa World), Paddack said "she supports the notion of raising per-pupil expenditures to the regional average, but she said the debate over 744 is one that should be decided by voters."

Barresi opposes the question.
