Bond Expert Paul Nieto Dead At 82

Paul Nieto, for years a fixture in the Oklahoma bond underwriting industry, has passed away at age 82.

Nieto, a Marine veteran who began his career in Clinton and served as president of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association in 1989, was associated with R. J. Edwards Inc. for almost 30 years. In 1983, he founded Paul Nieto & Associates and in 1998, joined The Baker Group.

Nieto was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about the bond industry in Oklahoma and was instrumental in revealing abuses in the early 1990s.

Nieto was known as "Big Bubba" each year he made a generous donation to the Oklahoma City Public Schools' "Coats for Kids" program spearheaded by KTOK talk show host Mike McCarville.
