In Delaware, Tea Party Candidate Surges

From www.newsmax.com ~ An all-out effort by the GOP establishment to propel Rep. Mike Castle ahead of insurgent senatorial candidate Christine O'Donnell in Delaware has infuriated tea party leaders, who blast the party's effort to give Castle the advantage as "absolutely outrageous."

Castle enjoys committed support from both the national and state GOP parties, in part owing to polls showing he would be a double-digit favorite over Democrat Chris Coons in November.

Polls show O'Donnell, a grass-roots movement conservative who has won the endorsement of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express organization, could face an uphill battle against Coons to fill the seat that once belonged to Vice President Joe Biden.

Whether Castle will survive Tuesday's primary to compete in the general election, however, appeared very much in doubt Monday.
