Hunter Resigns School Land Office Position

Mike Hunter announced today he is resigning effective September 1st as secretary of the School Land Commission to accept a job in Washington.

There is speculation he will join former Congressman J. C. Watts, now a lobbyist, in a business endeavor, or will return to the American Council of Life Insurers.

Hunter is the former Chief Operating Officer of the ACLI and served there under its President & CEO, former Governor Frank Keating.

Hunter was named to the Land Office position following an embezzlement scandal and is credited with restoring order in the
agency.
