Calvey Presses Obamacare Lawsuit

Congressional candidate Kevin Calvey is pressing his lawsuit to overturn ObamaCare with more than 1,000 Oklahomans as plaintiffs.

“It is incredibly encouraging that over 1,000 fellow Oklahomans have joined our lawsuit to overturn ObamaCare,” Calvey said. “Also encouraging is that over 2,000 Oklahomans requested to join the suit, although not all the requests were completed in time to be included in this amended complaint.

“ObamaCare represents the greatest threat to individual freedom that our nation has ever seen. People are fed up with the federal government endlessly expanding its power and they are willing to fight this unconstitutional law by joining our suit.”

Calvey originally filed suit in federal court in April. Calvey paid the filing fee himself and is donating his time and legal expertise to the effort. The suit claims that ObamaCare violates the 10th Amendment to the Constitution by violating states’ and citizens’ rights through its mandated universal insurance coverage.

Calvey said he felt compelled to take action because Attorney General Drew Edmondson would not join other attorneys general in suing to overturn ObamaCare’s universal mandate. So far, 20 states have taken legal action to overturn ObamaCare and 29 states have introduced or passed measures to amend their constitutions to nullify portions of the health-care reform law.
