Askins' Investment Thus Far: $775,000
Lt. Governor Jari Askins reached into her deep pockets again in the closing hours of the Democratic primary for governor and gave her campaign another $100,000, bringing her total investment in herself thus far to $775,000.
Askins' last-minute cash infusion came as opponent Drew Edmondson's bitter enemies, those involved with companies in the Arkansas poultry industry he sued, flooded Askins' campaign with $26,000 in late donations, her reports to the Ethics Commission show.
The same Arkansas donors earlier had given generously to Republican Scott Pruitt, who won his primary for attorney general.
