Switzer Goes On Airwaves To Endorse Askins

Barry Switzer is on the radio today endorsing Lt. Governor Jari Askins in the Democratic primary for governor.

The former OU and Dallas Cowboys football coach urges Democrats to select Askins, whom he describes as a friend of 30 years, as "the next governor" when they vote in Tuesday's primary.

Askins is a huge booster of OU athletic programs.

Radio station KTOK's morning show host, Reid Mullins, called attention to the commercial which first aired on his show this morning and said it could be "a game changer" in the Democratic primary.

Switzer's endorsement is considered important by candidates, and apparently by voters. His support of underdog Brad Henry in the 2002 governor's race is credited by many with helping Henry win election in an upset over favored Republican Steve Largent.
