Costello Proposes Merger Of Four Agencies

Republican labor commissioner candidate Mark Costello today proposed the merger of four state entities into one to reduce duplication and save money.

Costello said the Department of Labor should be merged with the Department of Mines, Construction Industries Board and the Employment Securities Commission.

He said the new entity should be known as the Department of Employment and Safety.

Costello asked, “Why have four separate agencies that provide regulatory oversight regarding employment and safety, when one consolidated agency can provide the same service at a lower cost to the taxpayer?”

Costello is Chairman of USA Digital and until sold, president of American Computer and Telephone, Inc. Over a 25-year period Costello’s businesses have generated over $200 million in revenue, he said, thus proving he has the knowledge and experience necessary to manage a government entity.
