Calvey, Others File Federal Obamacare Lawsuit

Republican congressional candidate Kevin Calvey, along with other business, political and religious leaders, will be at the Capitol today at 11:00 a.m. to announce the filing of a lawsuit against President Obama and others in his administration.

The lawsuit is being filed in federal court, challenging the constitutionality of President Obama’s health-care law. Copies of the filed lawsuit will be provided upon request.

“Several of my fellow Republican leaders in Oklahoma have called on our Attorney General, Drew Edmondson, to join other states in filing suit to stop President Obama’s health-care law,” said Calvey. “But the Attorney General seems to be ignoring his duty to protect Oklahoma taxpayers, refusing to file suit against President Obama to declare the law unconstitutional. As an American citizen and a taxpayer, I’m filing suit to challenge the constitutionality of President Obama’s health-care law.”

Congresswoman Mary Fallin, Senate Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee, House Speaker Chris Benge and other Republican leaders have called on the Attorney General to file suit in an effort to have President Obama’s health-care law declared unconstitutional. Attorneys General in many other states have filed suits challenging the new law’s constitutionality, but Edmondson refuses to join them.

“President Obama’s health-care law is one of the worst laws I’ve ever seen, and one of the most egregious violations of the Constitution that Congress and a President have ever committed,” said Calvey. “I can’t just sit by and do nothing, like our current Attorney General. I’m going to do everything I can to have this atrocious law declared unconstitutional.”

Other plaintiffs are encouraged to join the suit. For more information, interested parties can visit http://www.oklahomansagainstobamacare.com/.
