John Doak Enters Insurance Commissioner Race

Tulsa area businessman and insurance professional John Doak today announced his campaign to seek the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner.

Doak currently is a State Farm agent, a former managing director of Aon Risk Services of Oklahoma, a former Marsh USA Inc. vice president, a former SVP of Ascension Insurance and a former Farmers Insurance agent.

“Oklahoma needs conservative leaders at all levels of government, especially regulatory positions that affect the lives of virtually every citizen in our state,” said Doak. “The Insurance Commissioner should be a strong voice advocating for Oklahoma consumers, while being fair to businesses who create jobs in our economy.”

Doak also talked about the role he feels Oklahoma’s Insurance Commissioner should play with regard to federal policies that affect Oklahomans.

“Oklahoma’s Insurance Commissioner should oppose liberal policies like socialized health care and government mandated insurance,” said Doak. “Politicians in Washington, D.C., have no business forcing Oklahomans to buy insurance, and they have no business taking money from Oklahoma taxpayers to fund health insurance for people in California or anywhere else.

“I believe our Insurance Commissioner should vocally oppose these kinds of policies, because insurance matters to every Oklahoman. If I am elected, Oklahomans will hear one more conservative voice speaking against these harmful policies.”

Doak addressed the rising costs of health insurance and other insurance matters that affect Oklahomans. “We need strong reforms to help combat rising costs, but those reforms should occur at the state level, not in D.C.,” said Doak. “If I am elected, I will work closely with state leaders to identify and implement the best reforms possible.”

He is a former board member the Tulsa Ronald McDonald House, the Tulsa Opera and Dillon International Adoption Agency.
