Lankford Marks 10,000 Facebook Supporters
Fifth District Republican congressional candidate James Lankford claims to be the first Oklahoma candidate for a major office to surpass 10,000 Facebook supporters.
Lankford entered the race September 1st and to date, he said, 10,048 individuals have signed up on the fan support page.
"From all indications, we have the largest social networking presence of any candidate for any office in Oklahoma at this time," Lankford said. "I believe that is an exciting testament to the momentum our campaign is gaining in every community across the Fifth District," he added.
Social networks like Facebook have gained increasing prominence in political campaigns as an election tool to connect like-minded people in support of a candidate.
"We are excited to see our Facebook supporters also linking themselves to our campaign website www.jameslankford.com, so they can increase their direct involvement in this exciting congressional race," Lankford said.
Lankford, 41, has been the Director of Falls Creek Oklahoma Youth Camp since 1996.
