Cloud Jumps Into 5th District Race
Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud confirmed rumors today by signalling he'll be a candidate for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 5th District.
Cloud joins former Rep. Kevin Calvey, Rep. Mike Thompson, Dr. Johnny Roy, Rick Flanigan and James Lankford in the race.
Cloud, elected to the Corporation Commission in 2002, said he has started raising money ad will make a formal announcement within weeks.
"Although my campaign is only a few days old, I am excited by the tremendous support and encouragement I have received," he said.
Congresswoman Mary Fallin is seeking the GOP nomination for governor. She won the seat in 2006, defeating Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and then-Corporation Commissioner Denise Bode in the GOP primary and runoff.
