Democrats Meet To Name Candidate

The Oklahoma Democratic Party's Central Committee meets today to select a nominee for the State House to replace the deceased Rep. Terry Hyman of Leon in Love County. Hyman, 56, died Friday in a farm accident.
Election Board Secretary Mike Clingman said the party has five days from Hyman's death to name a nominee; the five days ends on Wednesday. A party spokesman said the name will be submitted late today or first thing tomorrow before a 2 p.m. memorial service for Hyman in Ardmore that is expected to be attended by dozens of legislators and state officials, including Governor Brad Henry and Lt. Governor Jari Askins.
