Edmond Municipal Judge Alan Synar, brother of the late Congressman Mike Synar, died over the weekend.

Friends report he died suddenly after falling ill recently.

Services will  be held at 10 a.m. November 12th at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15th St. in Oklahoma City.

Synar was Edmond's municipal judge for 23 years. He was the president-elect of the Oklahoma Municipal Judges Association.

His wife, Lisa, is the Executive Director of Oklahoma City Beautiful.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting in 1976 from the University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1979 from the University of Oklahoma School of Law. His law emphasis was in construction law, commercial litigation, contract law, and professional liability law.
