Ken Miller Opens Campaign Finance Account

Republican Rep. Ken Miller of Edmond today amended Ethics Commission paperwork to allow him to accept contributions as a candidate for treasurer.
Miller, chairman of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee, amended his current campaign committee paperwork to reflect his intent to seek the treasurer's post in the 2010 election.
In August, Miller formed a steering committee to prepare for a statewide campaign. Oklahoma City businessman Clay Bennett and Tulsa oilman Bob Sullivan serve as the committee’s co-chairmen. Other members of the committee include Patrice Douglas, Executive V.P. First Fidelity Bank; Mark Funke, President, Bank of Oklahoma - OKC; Harold Hamm, Chairman and CEO Continental Resources; Don Millican, CFO, Kaiser-Francis; Larry Nichols, Chairman and CEO, Devon Energy; Tom Price, Senior V.P., Chesapeake Corporation; David Rainbolt, President, BancFirst; and Lew Ward, Chairman, Ward Petroleum.
Miller is one of two Republicans who have officially formed campaign committees for the post. Miller's campaign account has a balance of $202,433, while former Senator Owen Laughlin, who was term-limited last year, shows cash on hand of $2,863.
Current Treasurer Scott Meacham has announced he will not seek re-election, and no Democrats have yet announced.
