Homosexual Activist Urges Kern Attack Be Expanded To Other House Members

Homosexual activist James Nimmo of Oklahoma City is encouraging Democrats to continue their attacks on Republican Rep. Sally Kern by sending emails to her House colleagues and Governor Henry.
Nimmo, in a post on the Democrats of Oklahoma Community Forum, http://www.demookie.com/, writes, "Many of Sally Kern's GOPer colleagues are perfectly willing for her, and her alone, to take all the criticism for her homophobic remarks, while they supposedly support her behind closed doors.... I think Kern's GOPer colleagues who share her enthusiasm for homophobia should also receive some of the spotlight."
A poster using a screen name agreed, adding, "We should be splashing Sally's crap on colleagues who are near her."
An administrator of the forum, Calvin Rees, added, "I also believe that our Democratic Represetatives (sic) should show some outrage."

Nimmo, who once lamented that an airplane carrying Republican U. S. Senator Jim Inhofe over Iraq evaded enemy ground fire and wasn't shot down, urged posters on the forum to send emails to members of the House Education Committee and others.

Democrat Forum Gets It Wrong, Garrett Says

State School Superintendent Sandy Garrett said today she will seek reelection in 2010 despite a report on the Democrats of Oklahoma Community Forum, www.demookie.com, that she plans to retire.
Lealon Taylor, Chief of Staff of the State Department of Education, said he spoke with Garrett after the story saying she planned to retire was posted and she said it is incorrect.

Garrett will mark 20 years in office in 2010 when she faces reelection.

Garrett was elected in 2006 to a fifth consecutive 4-year term and carried 74 of the state's 77 counties in winning reelection.
In 2001, she received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America for her work promoting character education.
Garrett is a Muskogee native who graduated from Stilwell High School. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northeastern State University and pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. After 15 years as a classroom teacher and gifted programs coordinator in Muskogee County schools, she joined the State Department of Education as Gifted and Talented Programs Coordinator, then became Executive Director of Education Programs, which included rural education, technology, satellite instruction, media applications, and library resources.
In 1988, she was named Cabinet Secretary of Education by Republican Governor Henry Bellmon.
She was named one of the “Fifty Making a Difference” in Oklahoma by The Journal Record. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in March 2001, into the Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame in August 2000, and is a member of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association Hall of Fame. In November 2000, she received the First Lady's Leadership in Literacy Award for her statewide efforts to improve reading instruction for children and expand literacy programs for adults.

Richardson Scores With Democratic Bloggers

Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson gained the support of three prominent Democratic bloggers and activists in Oklahoma today.

Calvin Rees, Tim Reese and Jane Luttrell of DemoOkie.com lined up behind Richardson Friday.

“Richardson is right for Oklahoma,” said Calvin Rees, co-owner of the blog site, routinely visited by hundreds of party activists across the state. “Richardson’s progressive ideas and experience in the United Nations and as Governor of New Mexico have prepared him for the job,” Rees said.

Tim Reese said, “Richardson should be very popular in Oklahoma. His experience as Secretary of Energy gives him insight into stimulating domestic production of oil and gas which makes us less dependent on foreign oil.”

Jane Luttrell said it was easy to give her support to Richardson. “I like Bill’s ideas and his stance on the issues. I plan on working very hard for him this upcoming presidential cycle.”

Both Rees and Reese were General Wesley Clark delegates to the Democratic National Convention in 2004. They indicated while they still like Clark, they believe Richardson would make the best candidate in 2008.

Richardson served as Energy Secretary and U.N. Ambassador during the Clinton Administration and is presently Governor of New Mexico. For more information on Richardson's campaign visit http://www.richardsonforpresident.com/ .
