Pruitt Poll Claims Lead In GOP AG Race

Scott Pruitt's campaign for the Republican nomination for attorney general today claimed a poll shows him leading opponent Ryan Leonard 21 to 5 percent among primary-voting Republicans with the largest percentage undecided.

Conducted less than two weeks after Pruitt’s decision to enter the race, the CMA Strategies poll shows that Pruitt (left) appears to be better known than Leonard (below right); Pruitt’s name recognition is 53 percent, while Leonard's is placed at 10 percent.

The statewide survey of 500 Republicans shows most voters remain undecided.

Pollster Pat McFerron, who conducted the poll, said the high number of undecided voters is not unusual at this stage of a campaign: “In a Republican primary, one does not have the partisan label to provide a base. This causes there to be a large number of undecided voters this far out. In fact, to be a candidate for a secondary office, garnering over 20% in a primary without having an active campaign is quite remarkable,” McFerron stated.

Pruitt currently leads in the Tulsa region, 27 percent to 5 percent. Pruitt leads in the rural northwest, 22 percent to 6 percent, McFerron's poll shows.
