Fallin Assails Edmondson On Inaction

Congresswoman Mary Fallin, Republican candidate for governor, today responded to Attorney General Drew Edmondson’s assertion that it was “way too early” for Oklahoma to join in the effort to prevent the implementation of President Obama’s big government takeover of the health care industry:

“Drew Edmondson has said he needs to ‘review the bill once it becomes law’ before he decides whether or not to join the fight to protect our liberty, prevent the ruin of our health care system and block hundreds of millions of dollars in unfunded mandates from being dumped on the state of Oklahoma. That’s like saying he’s going to try and dodge a bullet after it hits him in the chest. He needs to make a decision now. Does he want to fight for Oklahoma, or does he want to defend his Democrat allies in Washington? He can be with President Obama on this issue, or he can stand with Oklahoma’s families.”

A law suit was filed today by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum challenging “Obamacare” on constitutional grounds. He was joined in his suit by a bipartisan group of AG’s in the states of South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Idaho and South Dakota. Fallin has encouraged Oklahomans to call the office of the Attorney General and ask that Drew Edmondson lend his support to the law suit.

“What does Drew Edmondson know that the people of Oklahoma and the Attorneys General of 13 others states don’t?” asked Fallin. “Oklahoma’s state legislature has declared this bill unconstitutional. My office is ringing off the hook with voters declaring it unconstitutional. But Drew Edmondson is still apparently waiting for someone to bring him a copy of the bill. What part of 'unconstitutional' doesn’t Drew Edmonson understand?”
