Democrat Guild To Seek 5th District Seat

Former Republican Tom Guild today confirmed that he'll seek the Democratic nomination for Congress in the 5th District.

Guild is a longtime professor at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He'll officially announce his candidacy during a news conference at the Capitol on Thursday.

Guild, 55, taught political science and legal studies at UCO for 27 years and for three years at Oklahoma City University. He is secretary of the Oklahoma County Democratic Party.

Twenty-five years ago, Guild was considered a conservative Republican. He ran unsuccessfully for statewide office.
