Ballard: Felt Pressure To Hire Leftwich

By Nolan Clay/The Oklahoman ~ An official at the medical examiner's office testified Monday about feeling pressure in 2010 from state Rep. Randy Terrill to hire a then-state senator to be the agency's new transition coordinator.

ā€œI felt like we were being told we were going to have to do this whether it was the best thing for the agency or not,ā€ Cherokee Ballard said. ā€œI felt like we were being told what to do.ā€

Ballard was the first witness at a four-day preliminary hearing for Terrill and former
Sen. Debbe Leftwich. The two are charged with bribery. They deny  wrongdoing.
