Lankford To DNC Chair: It's 'We The People'

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was the featured guest for Politico’s Playbook Breakfast yesterday and during her interview, she said the reason why she is a Democrat: “I believe that government, and I think Democrats believe that government can be the catalyst to success.”

Congressman James Lankford offered the following response on the role of government in the United States: “Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz and her colleagues clearly do not realize the American people do not succeed because of our government – government succeeds because of our people. The philosophy she expressed is what brought us $14 trillion in debt and our 9.1% unemployment rate. Washington’s contribution of higher taxes and burdensome regulation is not the key to successful job creation and economic growth. When Washington leaders see themselves as the answer to America’s problems, they have forgotten that our Constitution begins with “We the People” not “We the Government.”
