Barresi Praises Passage Of SB346

Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi praised passage of Senate Bill 346 by the Oklahoma House on Thursday, a key reform in her 3R Agenda.

SB 346, authored by Senator Clark Jolley (R-Edmond) and Rep. Sally Kern (R-Oklahoma City), will end social promotion after the third grade for children who can’t read at proficient levels.

The legislation passed the House by a vote of 59 to 34 and now returns to the Senate.
