Elk City Publisher Larry Wade Dead At 72

Elk City newspaper publisher and University of Oklahoma regent Larry Wade died Sunday in Oklahoma City at age 72.

Wade, chairman of the OU Board of Regents, was publisher of the Elk City Daily News for more than three decades and was a former mayor of Elk City.

Services are pending with Whinery-Savage Funeral Home in Elk City.

Wade was former president of the Oklahoma Press Association, former president of the Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation and founder and president of the Elk City Education Foundation.

He was appointed to the OU Board of Regents in 2004 for a seven-year term by Governor Brad Henry.
