Jill Geiger Named State Budget Director

Jill Geiger, Schools Superintendent Janet Barresi's choice as her director of finance, has instead been named state budget director. 

Geiger was thrust into the news a month ago when the Board of Education refused to approve her employment in the Department of Education.

During that meeting, board members said she was unqualified to be the agency's director of finance.

Now, in her new position, Geiger will oversee all state agencies' budgets, not just the Department of Education's budget.

Geiger worked for former Democratic Governor Brad Henry on education finance for the past six years. She has been a deputy director in the Office of State Finance.
