Tucson: Videotape Shows Judge Died A Hero

The Hero: Judge John M.  Roll
Videotape of the gruesome scene of the mass shooting in Tucson shows that Chief U.S. District Judge John M. Roll died a hero as he shielded another victim before he himself was shot to death in the back by suspected gunman Jared Lee Loughner, The New York Times reported Tuesday evening in a graphic account of the chaos and death at a neighborhood Safeway supermarket on January 8.

Judge Roll pushed Ronald Barber to the ground and covered his body with his own; he was then shot in the back and died soon afterward. Barber, hit twice, survived.
